TOPS Team Wins Second Straight Title

The Cactus Foothills South TOPS team won its second straight title with a 10-0 victory over High Desert on Saturday night.

Derek Schaefer turned in a dominating pitching performance, going the distance on the mound for the South.   He was backed by another outstanding defensive performance.   Jonny Garber had a highlight play from shortstop and Kaden Coutts threw out three High Desert base runners who tried to steal second.  Justin Dominick and Matthew Lawrence had big hits for the South while Cooper Roderick knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the 4th inning.

The TOPS team finished its undefeated run through the tournament by outscoring its opponents 50-3.

Congratulations to Coach Roderick, Coach Coutts, Coach Valentine, and the entire TOPS team for bringing home another championship banner!!

TOPS Team to Play for Second Straight Championship

The Cactus Foothills South TOPS team continued their undefeated run through the TOPS tournament with a 13-2 victory over North Scottsdale on Friday night.   With the victory, the TOPS team advances to Saturday night’s 7:30pm championship game.  Please put on your highlighter gear and come out to Grayhawk on Saturday night to support the TOPS team as they seek to bring home a second straight championship banner.    Highlighter Nation!!

TOPS Update

Coach Roderick’s TOPS team opened the TOPS tournament last night with a big 11-1 win over High Desert.    Ethan Alderfer lead the team’s defensive effort from the mound with an outstanding pitching performance.  An all-around team effort at the plate led to the one-sided score.  The TOPS team returns to action tonight (Tuesday) at 7:30pm when they take on host Horizon at Grayhawk Park.    Put on your highlighter gear and come out to the park tonight to support the young guys!

Congrats to AJ, Derrick, Chad and a great TOPS team! They smoked Arcadia in a grudge match 12-1. AJ set the tone early with some aggressive base running, the team got some key hits, were patient at the plate, and were solid on defense including a MLB style double play from Kobe Bowen. It was a great game to watch and again, was supported by a sea of neon.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support the team. The South travels well! We must have out numbered their fans 4-1. It was amazing and we will have the banner up before the tournament.
